The scene depicts four figures engaged in a card game, where the tension rests upon the subtle interactions between the players. To the left, a young man holds his cards, while the woman in the centre, adorned in fine silk and pearls, glances toward the servant pouring wine. The figure on the right, dressed in elaborate attire, prepares to play his hand, unaware of the card being surreptitiously drawn from the belt of the man on the left.
