Beschreibung
The Bin stands near Huntly in Aberdeenshire, a wooded hill whose tall conifers and open viewpoints look across the Deveron countryside, with grand firs linking the forest to nineteenth century planting.
A short distance north of Huntly, the forest takes its name from the hill at its centre. Some of its grand firs date from the 1840s, while the higher ground offers countryside views and a small pool traditionally associated with healing powers.
The Bin view looks through tall pines and darker pointed conifers towards distant fields and low hills. Broad grey slabs, green turf and purple heather occupy the near slope. Straight trunks frame the open valley, with pale gold clearings visible between the trees. Soft cream clouds and warm vegetation suggest a clear afternoon near the end of summer.
