Telegraph Hill, Lilley opens across a broad sweep of countryside, with a ridge path giving the view a calm, far-reaching mood, the ridge keeps the distant fields in view.
The path follows the high ground before dipping towards the valley. Short grasses and small flowers border it, while layered fields extend to the horizon. Puffy clouds occupy much of the blue sky above the open slope. The path is the only strong line across the hill, making its descent easy to follow.
From Telegraph Hill, Lilley, the countryside reads as a sequence of ridges and fields rather than a single landmark. Those who know the viewpoint may recognise the feeling of looking out across the open Hertfordshire countryside. The open ridge gives Telegraph Hill, Lilley a sense of height without losing the detail of fields below.
