Telegraph Hill in south London opens above leafy rooftops towards a distant city silhouette, where an orange sun and purple cloud banks give the panorama its evening warmth.
In the Lewisham area of New Cross, the park opened in 1895 on ground associated with an Admiralty semaphore station. Its upper and lower sections occupy opposite sides of Kitto Road, preserving public green space within the surrounding residential neighbourhood.
From Telegraph Hill, a green slope falls towards densely layered trees and scattered houses. Yellow edged leaves frame the lower view, while a narrow band of towers and a distant wheel marks the skyline. A large low sun shines through orange haze at the right. The full canopy suggests late summer, with elongated shadows giving the near grass a quieter, cooler tone.
