Beschreibung
Teesdale in the North Pennines follows a bright river towards a white waterfall, with wooded banks and green fields lit beneath a low golden sun on a summer evening.
Teesdale follows the River Tees through the North Pennines. At High Force, the water drops about 21 metres over the hard igneous rock of the Whin Sill. Beneath it, older sandstone and limestone are exposed within a gorge shaped by flowing water and earlier ice-age meltwater.
The river winds from distant trees through green fields before plunging between tall grey rock walls into a shaded pool. White cascades and foam interrupt its blue surface. Woodland crowds the banks, while long shadows cross the open slopes above. Near the horizon, a low sun warms the summer sky with gold beneath streaks of pink and cream cloud.
