Stoupe Beck Sands on the Yorkshire coast sweeps below pale cliffs and green farmland, with turquoise shallows, red-roofed farm buildings and a long curve of empty beach in summer.
Near Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, this sandy shore occupies the southern part of the bay below Ravenscar. Eroding cliffs expose alternating rock layers. The Cleveland Way follows the coast above, connecting the beach with neighbouring stretches of this varied shoreline.
From the grassy slope above Stoupe Beck Sands, the beach makes a broad golden curve along the foot of cream-coloured cliffs. Bushes fill the nearest ground, their dark leaves contrasting with bright pasture. Red-roofed farm buildings stand back from the edge. Turquoise water changes to deeper blue offshore beneath a high bank of white summer clouds.
