Beschreibung
St Neots in Cambridgeshire spreads beside a pink and golden river, with warm roofs, an arched bridge and green meadows below a hazy evening horizon and scattered trees.
The Great Ouse valley has supported settlement here since prehistoric times. An Anglo-Saxon priory founded in 974 became closely associated with St Neot, whose remains were brought from Cornwall. That religious community helped establish the identity of the later riverside town.
The river widens through the centre of St Neots, reflecting pale pink clouds and golden light. A low bridge crosses between clusters of buildings, its arches opening into darker water. Meadows and scattered trees occupy the nearer bank. Warm red roofs gather on the right, while the far countryside dissolves into a softly misted evening distance.
