Lu Guang, a painter active during the Yuan Dynasty, produced this work in the tradition of scholar-official ink painting. The composition follows the classic vertical hanging scroll format, common in Chinese art of the period. It depicts a mountainous terrain, with craggy peaks rising above a secluded pavilion. The artist employs dry brushwork and subtle ink washes to define the rock formations and the sparse vegetation clinging to the slopes.
