Beschreibung
Sledmere in East Yorkshire centres on a Georgian country house and its grounds, where pale stone, generous lawns and mature trees express the scale of a Wolds estate.
Sledmere House stands between Driffield and Malton in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The ancestral home of the Sykes family, it belongs to a village shaped by the estate, with parkland, a deer park and gardens surrounding the country house.
A fountain sends a white jet above a still pool, reflecting the sunlit house on the right. Behind the sloping lawn, a square church tower rises among trees. Reed leaves and pale flowers edge the near water, while long shadows stretch across the grass. Cream and lavender clouds bring a gentle warmth to the full green foliage of this summer setting.
