Beschreibung
Rutland Water in the East Midlands opens beyond sunlit lawns and spreading trees, with blue water reaching between green peninsulas beneath the warm cream clouds of a late summer afternoon.
Created during the 1970s, this reservoir combines a major water supply role with an extensive countryside recreation area. Its western shores contain important lagoons and wetland habitat managed for wildfowl, with international conservation recognition and a well-established programme supporting the return of ospreys.
Across Rutland Water, long green projections divide a broad blue surface beneath low rolling farmland. A mature tree rises close on the right, its branches reaching above the water. Smaller trees and hedges interrupt a gently falling lawn. Gold sunlight catches the grass and cream cloud, suggesting a warm afternoon late in the summer, with calm water beyond the shaded foreground.
