Beschreibung
River Ouse opens into a broad, calm expanse of water, where a low distant shoreline and grasses create a quiet, spacious mood, with open sky above.
Tall reeds fill the lower corners, with a slim post rising near the far waterline. The river spreads across the middle of the scene and reflects pale pink and blue clouds. Flat banks sit low on the horizon beneath a wide sky.
The open view suggests the changing light and broad reaches found along River Ouse. Its low banks leave little between the viewer and the water, while the foreground grasses mark the edge of the estuary. The surrounding details keep the view tied to the particular place. The broad view leaves each main feature easy to see against its setting.
