Beschreibung
Rickmansworth opens onto Hertfordshire's Aquadrome lakes, where bright blue water, a continuous green shore and high white clouds reveal the spacious landscape left by former gravel workings.
The Aquadrome at Rickmansworth occupies former gravel workings in Hertfordshire's Colne Valley. Excavation created its two lakes, now used for activities including sailing and canoeing. Three Rivers District Council manages the site, where the industrial past has given way to water and green banks.
Broad blue water fills most of the scene, its surface marked by short pale reflections. Trees form an almost continuous fringe along the far shore, with a few taller silhouettes breaking the line. Narrow reeds rise from the lower right. The full canopies and brilliant sky suggest summer sunshine, and the low viewpoint gives the lake a notably open feel.
