Beschreibung
Pykestone Hill in the Scottish Borders follows a golden path through purple heather, with rounded shadowed slopes, a winding valley stream and distant ridges beneath a warm low sun.
Pykestone Hill reaches 737 metres in the Tweedsmuir uplands, part of the high ground of the Scottish Borders. Ridges divide the headwaters of the Tweed and neighbouring river systems. Heather moorland, blanket bog and steep-sided valleys support important upland habitats across this exposed landscape.
A grassy path climbs the near hillside between dense purple heather clumps. Beyond its edge, broad slopes overlap in muted plum and gold, descending towards a narrow stream that zigzags along the valley floor. The low sun hangs above distant ridges, turning the sky peach and orange. Long shadows emphasise each tuft of heath and fold of ground.
