This piece is a segment of the Wakan rōeishū, an anthology of Japanese and Chinese poetry compiled in the early 11th century. Known as a Tatsuta fragment, or Tatsuta-gire, this specific sheet is attributed to the courtier and calligrapher Minamoto Ienaga.
