Beschreibung
Mersea Island in Essex lies beyond broad tidal flats, with bright channels crossing exposed sand and marsh grasses under the wide blue sky and high white clouds of summer.
South of Colchester, this tidal island sits between the Blackwater and Colne estuaries. Mudflats and sandflats form much of its intertidal margin, where frequent seawater flooding limits plant growth; firmer sediments and open channels create a varied edge between land and sea.
A low line of houses and trees marks Mersea Island beyond a wide blue channel. Exposed brown sand spreads through the middle ground, crossed by thin reflective streams. Nearer grassland holds small pools among gold and green plants. The level horizon leaves room for a large blue sky, with white clouds and clear light suggesting a settled summer afternoon.
