Beschreibung
Makeness Kipps rises at the centre of a snow-patched valley, where Soonhope Burn winds between tawny grasses and dark conifer slopes beneath a cool sky.
White snow gathers in irregular pools along the valley floor, breaking the amber grasses into separate islands. Conifers climb both sides towards the high ridgeline, while bare trees mark the nearer edge and a blue stream curves through the foreground.
At the centre stands Makeness Kipps, the 561-metre ridge summit above the upper Soonhope Burn. In the Scottish Borders, wooded slopes enclose open ground at the head of a narrow valley, while the stream threads through the near view. Anyone who knows these hills can trace the winter scene in its snow-lined water, tawny grass and dark forest edge.
