Beschreibung
Luton spreads across Bedfordshire's green valley slopes in red roofs and tall blocks, where mature trees soften a broad town panorama beneath a pale blue, cloud-filled summer sky.
In Bedfordshire, Luton developed a nationally important hat-making industry during the nineteenth century. Factories large and small supplied straw hats after wartime restrictions disrupted continental imports. The trade dominated the town for generations and gave its football club the enduring nickname of the Hatters.
The view looks across dense green trees towards red-roofed streets and a group of tall brick blocks. Low wooded hills enclose the distance, with a small white spire visible towards the right. Cream clouds occupy the blue above. Full foliage suggests summer, and the grassy near slope places the industrial town within a much softer setting of trees and rolling ground.
