Beschreibung
Kinlochleven in Highland Lochaber fills a wooded mountain hollow with white houses, seen above the winding river and pale tidal flats in a sheltered valley lit by soft summer sun.
Kinlochleven stands at the inland end of Loch Leven, between the Mamores to the north and the Glen Coe mountains to the south. Its modern form developed around an aluminium smelter powered by hydroelectricity. The River Leven separates the older communities of Kinlochmore and Kinlochbeg.
From above dense leafy woodland, the view follows a pale blue river towards the clustered village. Sand and grass form a small island on the right, with shallow channels tracing its edge. White houses gather beneath steep green slopes cut by dark rock. A straight road continues up the distant glen, while cream clouds and full foliage suggest a mild summer afternoon.
