This diptych by Gyokuryūtei Shigeharu captures a moment from the celebrated Kabuki play, Yoshitsune senbon zakura (The Thousand Cherry Trees of Yoshitsune). The print features two prominent actors of the era: Onoe Kikugorō III, depicted in the role of Shizuka Gozen, and Nakamura Utaemon III, appearing as the fox spirit Kitsune Tadanobu. Shigeharu, a prominent artist of the Kamigata school based in Osaka, was known for his focus on the theatrical world of the Kansai region.

The composition is divided into two distinct panels, each framed by a decorative border of cherry blossoms and stylised water motifs. The figures are rendered with the characteristic facial expressions and dramatic postures associated with the Kabuki stage. Shizuka Gozen is shown with a delicate headpiece, while Kitsune Tadanobu displays the intense, focused gaze typical of the warrior-spirit archetype. The use of colour is balanced, with soft pinks of the cherry blossoms contrasting against the deeper blues of the water and the patterned garments of the actors.
