This work by Frans Floris, a central figure in the Antwerp school during the sixteenth century, depicts an allegorical representation of Justice. Floris, who spent time in Italy, brought the influence of Roman Mannerism back to the Low Countries. His style is characterised by muscular figures, complex poses, and a specific approach to light that differentiates his work from the earlier Flemish tradition.
