Beschreibung
Heckington turns Lincolnshire's milling heritage into a striking eight-sailed silhouette, with a dark tower and pale sails rising above brick buildings, green lawn and flowers in clear daylight.
Built in 1830, Heckington's windmill originally carried five sails. After storm damage, John Pocklington repaired it in 1892 using a cap and eight sails brought from a Boston mill. The Grade I listed Lincolnshire landmark preserves this unusual result of nineteenth-century rebuilding.
White lattice sails radiate above a dark tapering tower, their repeated bars sharp against blue sky. Red-brick buildings flank the mill, with a timber-sided shed to the right. Pink flower spikes and white blooms brighten the near grass. Full leaves and strong shadows suggest summer, allowing the pale sails to stand out clearly above the quieter horizontal lines of roofs and lawn.
