This woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige is the thirtieth plate from the series Famous Sights of the Fifty-three Stations, often referred to as the Vertical Tokaido. Produced in 1855, this series offers a different perspective on the route between Edo and Kyoto compared to his earlier, more famous horizontal series. The composition focuses on the coastal area of Hamamatsu, a location celebrated for its pine trees and the sound of the wind moving through them.
