Beschreibung
Furnace sits beside Loch Fyne in Argyll and Bute, a coastal village whose eighteenth century ironworks linked local woodland charcoal with industry beside the long sheltered waters of the sea loch.
The settlement occupies the northern shore of Loch Fyne and takes its name from iron production established in 1755. A company from Cumbria used the nearby forests to supply charcoal for smelting, leaving a surviving stack as evidence of the village's industrial origins.
Furnace is shown along a rocky tidal shore, with pale cottages and tall trees on the left. Brown seaweed covers low exposed ledges between blue channels, and two white sailing boats sit offshore. Green hills overlap across the loch. Full foliage and strong blue light suggest summer at low tide, with a white cottage's red roof adding warmth.
