Fakenham in Norfolk gathers around a tall memorial cross, with red brick buildings, a pale church tower and bright flowers framing an open square beneath a clear blue sky.
The town's Market Place is marked by its war memorial, with the tower of St Peter and St Paul rising behind the surrounding buildings. Together these landmarks define the historic centre, where an open civic space interrupts the closely built streets of Norfolk's inland countryside.
In Fakenham, a pale stone cross stands above a broad stepped base surrounded by red and white flowers. A brick corner building faces an ornate stone frontage with arched windows.
