Beschreibung
Dundonnell in the western Highlands opens across a maze of tidal channels, with soft green saltmarsh and distant mauve mountains giving the head of the loch an expansive summer calm.
Dundonnell stands on the southern side of Little Loch Broom in Ross and Cromarty, at the foot of An Teallach. The village marks the northern edge of the mountain country often called the Great Wilderness. Its river reaches the sea loch through an estuary northwest of the settlement.
Silver blue channels curl between raised grassy banks in the foreground, dividing and rejoining across the wide flats. Beyond them, pale sand borders a strip of open water beneath wooded slopes. A long purple ridge catches warmer light in the distance. Tawny grasses and heather frame the near edge, while white cloud banks soften the bright summer sky.
