Beschreibung
The chalk headland gives Dover Strait its open, windswept character, set across deep blue water beneath a wide, cloud-streaked sky, Its soft light and measured view give the place a quietly memorable character.
White cliffs run along the distant shore, with a broad headland rising above the sea near the centre. In the foreground, green slopes descend towards the water and a small track curves across the hillside. Ships appear as tiny marks on the strait, emphasising the distance between coasts.
Dover Strait is shown here in its surroundings. People who know this crossing may recognise the long sea passage between Britain and the continent. The far cliffs remain the scene's clearest anchor, while the curve of the near slope leads down to the channel. The familiar details make this view easy to place for anyone who has spent time in the area.
