Beschreibung
Dartford spans the Thames in Kent with tall bridge pylons and sweeping cables, bringing the scale of the river crossing into view above blue water and working riverbanks.
At Dartford, the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge connects Kent with Essex across the Thames. Opened in October 1991, it added four lanes to the river crossing and had the longest cable-stayed span in Europe at the time, according to National Highways.
Pale pylons rise steeply from the water, supporting a green deck that sweeps diagonally across the scene. Fine cables fan into a bright blue sky. Tanks and a crane mark the opposite bank, with part of a ship at the right edge. Leafy grasses and white flowers suggest summer along the near shore, contrasting with the engineering and industry beyond.
