Coilleag on Eriskay in Scotland meets turquoise water along a sweep of pale sand, with lichen-covered foreground rocks and small white crofts beneath a lightly clouded summer sky.
Coilleag a’ Phrionnsa is a sheltered strand on Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides. Its name recalls Bonnie Prince Charlie, who first landed on Scottish soil here. The beach is included in a trail linking places associated with his time among the islands.
Rounded grey rocks fill the nearest ground, their surfaces marked with yellow lichen and narrow seams of grass. Beyond them, cream sand curves towards a low green headland beneath scattered white crofts. Small wavelets draw bright lines over turquoise shallows, while deeper blue water extends left below long white clouds in a mild summer sky.
