Beschreibung
Chiddingfold Forest is represented by a tall pine above purple heath and wooded folds, giving this Surrey and West Sussex view a still, sheltered mood.
The pine trunk rises near the left edge, its branches spreading across the upper frame. Below, bands of heather and trees follow the contours into the distance, where a soft ridge meets a pale evening sky. The foreground remains dark beneath the tree while the far slopes catch warmer light.
The scene recalls the mixture of woodland and heath around Chiddingfold Forest. Visitors who know its paths may recognise the way clearings open between trees, with the solitary pine marking the transition from shaded ground to the distant hills. The open sky sits above the visible land and water.
