Beschreibung
Castletown looks out across a bright northern bay, where a long cliff edge gives the coastal view a spacious, open feel, beneath the wide northern sky.
Small white houses sit among bands of green fields, with darker hedges tracing the slopes towards the water. Across the bay, the pale face of the cliffs runs beneath a line of distant blue hills. High clouds gather above the scene, leaving a clear strip of sky over the coast.
The view suits Castletown’s close connection with the Caithness shore. Visitors who have followed the coast can recognise the meeting of open water, headland and settled farmland, with the village tucked into the lower slopes. The field boundaries form clear horizontal bands above the shore.
