Beschreibung
Carron near Falkirk carries the legacy of Scottish ironmaking, where an eighteenth century works developed beside the river and left an enduring industrial identity in the surrounding settlement.
Founded in 1759, the ironworks at Carron brought together the industrialist Samuel Garbett, chemist John Roebuck and merchant William Cadell. Their enterprise occupied ground by the local river near Falkirk, establishing a manufacturing presence that became central to the district's industrial history.
The scene centres on a pale stone gateway building with a steep roof and square clock tower. Its arched entrance faces a broad strip of blue water, where the tower's reflection breaks into small ripples. Low industrial buildings and white houses extend behind the boundary wall. White flowers, full green trees and clear cream clouds suggest summer, softening the setting around the masonry.
