Beschreibung
Broad Cairn rises above Loch Muick on the Angus border, a boulder strewn Munro where the open White Mounth plateau gives way to deep hollows and steep mountain faces.
At 998 metres, the mountain forms part of the White Mounth high ground between Angus and Aberdeenshire. Routes approach from Glen Muick or Glen Doll, crossing bouldery slopes to a small summit cairn, with the loch and surrounding corries below the plateau edge.
Broad Cairn appears in a wide snowy outlook across a steep sided hollow. Dark rocks protrude from the foreground drifts, and a near vertical shadowed face drops on the left. The opposite wall catches gold light beneath rounded white ridges. The extensive snow suggests winter, while a clear blue sky and warm clouds soften the exposed upland scene.
