Beschreibung
Black Cuillin Ridge rises beyond a rocky Highland burn, with sharp grey summits, open moorland and clear blue water weaving between large boulders below the long Skye skyline.
Angular stones of several sizes break the nearest channel into small pools and narrow runs. Beyond them, low brown and green slopes lead towards a succession of pointed peaks. Thin cloud strips cross the sky above the highest summit, leaving the dark upper faces clearly exposed.
The retained view of Black Cuillin Ridge comes from the Sligachan approach on Skye. Water and rough open ground provide a close setting for the more distant mountains, rather than placing the summits alone against the horizon. The contrast between pale moving water and dark stone gives the foreground its particular weight beneath the broken ridge.
