Li Shan, a member of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, produced this work during the Qing Dynasty. The composition demonstrates the artist's preference for spontaneous, expressive brushwork over the rigid academic standards of the period. By utilising varying concentrations of ink, Li Shan creates a sense of depth and movement within a minimalist framework.
