A patchwork hot-air balloon floats above Biggar, bringing a playful lift to the view of town and rolling farmland above fields that stretch towards distant low hills.
The town sits below a wide sweep of cultivated fields, with hedges and narrow roads dividing the green ground into small shapes. A colourful hot-air balloon hangs prominently in the sky above it. Further hills fade into the distance beneath scattered clouds. Biggar’s built-up centre forms a compact cluster at the foot of the view, with open countryside extending around it.
The balloon gives this scene an unusual vantage point, as if the familiar town is being seen from above. Those who know South Lanarkshire can follow the fields back towards Biggar’s rooftops and streets.
