Beschreibung
Big Sand near Gairloch in the Highlands opens onto turquoise shallows and a snowy mountain skyline, with rounded shoreline rocks setting a gentle rhythm along the pale beach.
Big Sand is a coastal settlement in Wester Ross, northwest Scotland, linked by road with Gairloch. Its shore faces across the water towards the Torridon mountains, and the uninhabited Longa Island lies nearby. Sandy stretches and stonier sections give this part of the coast a varied edge.
Large grey boulders occupy the foreground, their green tops warmed by sunlight. Thin lines of white surf trace the curve of sand into a clear blue bay, where low rocky outcrops break the surface. Beyond the water, dark foothills support paler peaks streaked with snow. Cream clouds with lilac undersides add a cool softness above this bright, early season shore.
