This woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai belongs to a series of large-format flower studies, often referred to as the 'Large Flower' series. Produced during the 1830s, these works demonstrate the artist's mastery of the kacho-ga genre, which focuses on birds and flowers. The composition features a cluster of bell-flowers, rendered with soft, graduated colour tones that suggest the delicate texture of the petals. A single dragonfly hovers in the upper left quadrant, providing a sense of movement against the static floral arrangement.
