Beschreibung
Bedale in North Yorkshire stands at the gateway to Wensleydale, with a market-town history reflected here in stone arches, riverside houses and a church tower above the trees.
Granted a market charter in 1251, Bedale retains its role as a North Yorkshire market town. Its Georgian centre lies on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, and a stop on the Wensleydale Railway connects it with the surrounding dale landscape.
Three pale bridge arches cross blue-green water in front of cream houses and red roofs. A tall stone church tower, carrying a clock face, rises behind the rooftops. White flowers brighten the near bank, while dense trees fill the spaces between buildings. Strong green leaves and a clear blue sky suggest summer, with light picking out the bridge against the darker water.
