This woodblock print, titled Arai, represents the thirty-second station of the Tokaido road. It belongs to the Reisho Tokaido series, a later iteration of Hiroshige's famous travelogue, distinguished by the use of clerical script (reisho) in the cartouches. The composition captures the coastal geography of the Arai station, situated on the shores of Lake Hamana.

In the foreground, the artist depicts the gentle slopes of the shoreline, dotted with pine trees and small groups of travellers. The middle ground features the expansive, calm waters of the lake, punctuated by the masts of boats and the distant silhouette of a bridge or ferry crossing. Across the water, the horizon is defined by a low-lying mountain range, with the iconic peak of Mount Fuji rising subtly in the centre.
