Beschreibung
Alnmouth in Northumberland gathers beside the River Aln estuary, with red-roofed houses, sandy banks and blue tidal water seen here beyond the stone cross on grassy Church Hill.
Where the Aln meets the North Sea, Alnmouth occupies a coastal setting within Northumberland's protected landscape. Colourful houses line the riverside, while nearby dunes and the estuary support varied birdlife, bringing village streets, open shore and wildlife habitat close together.
A tall weathered cross stands on the near grassy hill. Beyond it, a blue tidal channel curves around pale sand towards rows of cream houses with orange-red roofs. A small spire rises behind the waterfront, and a white boat rests in the channel. Bright grass and full distant trees suggest summer under a broad blue sky streaked with white cloud.
