Hiroshige employs a distinct compositional strategy by placing a woman in a patterned kimono in the immediate foreground, her back to the viewer, which directs the eye toward the water and the distant warehouses.

The scene captures the daily activity of the city. A boatman navigates his small vessel across the water, while other boats are visible near the shore. The row of white, gabled warehouses creates a strong diagonal line that recedes into the background, providing a sense of depth. The sky is rendered with a subtle colour gradient, a technique known as bokashi, which transitions from a deep blue at the top to a pale yellow near the horizon. Several birds are depicted in flight, adding a sense of movement to the quiet atmosphere.

Hiroshige was a master of the ukiyo-e genre, and this series represents his final major project. The prints are noted for their innovative use of perspective and their ability to capture the changing seasons and weather conditions of Edo.
