Beskrivning
Wisbech in Cambridgeshire lines reflective blue river water with red brick houses and steep gabled roofs, with green sloping banks beneath broad cream clouds on a sunny summer afternoon.
This Fenland market town developed as an inland port on the tidal River Nene, near the Norfolk border. Georgian houses line North Brink beside the water, including Peckover House. Their surviving frontages reflect the prosperity of the town’s river trade and form a distinctive part of its historic centre.
Wisbech follows a gentle river bend between steep green banks and a long low brick wall. Red and pale houses have tall chimneys and varied grey roofs, with several steep gables near the right. Their window lines reflect in the lightly rippled blue channel. Near reeds and low shrubs sit beneath broad cream clouds in sunny summer afternoon conditions.
