Beskrivning
Weeting in Norfolk brings a round church tower into view beyond broken flint walls, with green lawns, white flowers and thick summer trees beneath a soft blue and cream sky.
The surviving medieval ruins here belonged to a grand manor house built around 1180 for Hugh de Plais. Despite its familiar castle name, the residence was never fortified; its later moat displayed wealth, and the house eventually passed to the Howard family before abandonment.
At Weeting, pale flint ruins form a broken window opening beside the nearest grass. Beyond them, a round church tower with battlements rises above steep grey roofs and tall windows. White flowers edge the lawn beneath spreading trees. Soft cloud shadows and dense green foliage suggest a peaceful afternoon in the middle of summer.
