The Master of the Female Half-Lengths is an anonymous Netherlandish painter active during the early sixteenth century. This artist is identified by a specific body of work depicting women in domestic settings, often engaged in reading, playing music, or sewing. This composition, featuring the Virgin and Child, aligns with the stylistic conventions of the period, which favoured smooth, enamel-like surfaces and a refined, courtly aesthetic.

The Virgin is depicted in a half-length pose against a dark, neutral background. The Christ Child, seated upon her lap, reaches towards a pair of cherries held by the Virgin.
