This composition by Okabe Ko displays the conventions of the Kacho-ga tradition, which focuses on the depiction of birds, flowers, and seasonal elements. The work presents a collection of botanical and aquatic subjects arranged with a sense of balance and observation. A central porcelain vase, decorated with subtle dragon motifs, holds a large arrangement of peonies and plum blossoms. The artist uses a soft, muted palette to render the delicate petals of the peonies, contrasting with the darker, more structured forms of the garden rock positioned to the right.
