A study of two monumental angels rendered in grisaille, originally created as the outer wings for a Flemish Baroque altarpiece.
This work represents the outer wings of the triptych commissioned for the Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp. Peter Paul Rubens, a master of the Flemish Baroque, designed these panels to function as a visual transition between the secular space of the cathedral and the sacred narrative contained within the central altarpiece.
