Basavana, a master of the Mughal atelier, employs a flattened perspective typical of the period. The composition is divided into a primary narrative space and a lower register containing Persian script. The figures are rendered with clear outlines and a palette of saturated pigments, including lapis lazuli blues and vermilion reds, accented by gold leaf. The king sits upon a raised platform, his posture relaxed yet authoritative, while the hunter stands before him, gesturing towards the bird.
