Victor Pasmore was a central figure in the development of British abstract art during the mid-twentieth century. Initially associated with the Euston Road School and figurative painting, Pasmore underwent a radical shift towards abstraction around 1947. This transition marked a move away from representational subjects towards the exploration of pure form, line, and spatial relationships.
Spiral Motif in White, Black and Indigo represents this period of experimentation. The composition relies on the rhythmic repetition of linear forms, creating a sense of movement across the surface of the canvas.
