Beskrivning
Silecroft in Cumbria offers a long sweep of shingle beside the Irish Sea, with pale breakers curling towards a green headland and tall clouds above the coastal hills.
The village stands just inside the Lake District National Park, roughly four miles north of Millom. Nearby Black Combe reaches about 600 metres, giving this western margin of the district a close relationship between its upland landscape and the open coast.
At Silecroft, grey pebbles and brown seaweed mark the long beach, curving away beneath a grassy headland. Narrow white waves roll across deep blue water. Gold grasses fringe a path along the right, and small pale buildings appear far ahead. Hazy hills and towering cream clouds soften the horizon in late summer light.
