This fine art print reproduces a section of a handscroll attributed to Hon'ami Kōetsu, a central figure in the early Edo period. Kōetsu was a polymath, known for his work in calligraphy, ceramics, and lacquerware. This piece demonstrates the collaborative nature of the Rinpa school, where calligraphic mastery meets decorative painting. The work features waka poetry written in a fluid, expressive hand, layered over a subtle underpainting of pine trees rendered in gold and silver pigments.
